A Rainbow of Color for Colorful Closets

This fall, at the October parallel general membership meetings, Junior League of Amarillo members donated clothes for Colorful Closets, with 49 members participating. The mission of Colorful Closets is to collect, organize and distribute clothing for children and adolescents throughout the Amarillo, Bushland, and Canyon areas. They aim to meet the needs of those in our community while also ministering to them by spreading the love of Jesus Christ. Colorful Closets was co-founded by two women, Keely Brown and Lindsey Wing. These women want the kids in need to be clothed in style and have confidence when they walk into school. Counselors and support staff at local schools work closely with Colorful Closets to help kids with their specific needs and style. Rather than the kids receiving clothes that are worn out and obviously donated, through the help of Colorful Closets, kids can wear age-appropriate clothing in their favorite colors! Junior League member, Andrea Gerig, coordinated this year’s Done In A Day event for the league.
“JLA has helped Colorful Closets for a few years now. This partnership has created an opportunity for us to realize that underserved children need fun, age-appropriate clothing that is cool and colorful,” said Gerig.
