Medical Center League House

We would like to share with you the opportunity to participate in an exciting project that is being developed in Amarillo: the Medical Center League House

The purpose of this hospital hospitality house is to serve as a home away from home for families of adult patients who live outside of Amarillo but are receiving medical treatment in Amarillo.  It will be located within the Medical Center and will complement the services provided by the Ronald McDonald House, which specifically accommodates families of pediatric patients.

The Medical Center League House will have 30 guest rooms, a living area, kitchen, dining room, prayer garden and laundry.  A nominal donation will be requested from each guest to cover the operating expenses of the facility; however, no one will be turned away for inability to pay.

The project is a collaborative effort of Harrington Regional Medical Center, Inc. and the Junior League of Amarillo, with a total cost estimated at $2.3 million.  Harrington Regional Medical Center, Inc. has donated $300,000 in the form of land; $200,000 has been donated by the Junior League of Amarillo, and another $200,000 has been pledged by a philanthropist from Austin who was been involved in the development of a number of similar projects throughout the Southwest region.  Other funding is being obtained through grants, private donations, local businesses and fundraising in outlying communities.

When the Medical Center League House opens, guests and volunteers will work in harmony to create a family environment, sharing more than just the same living space.  They will share their hearts and souls, and that's what makes the Medical Center League House a home.
